One purpose of the Family Ministry program is to keep parents confident, competent, encouraged, and involved with their children. To that end, our aim is to provide ways for families to get involved with other families and the school by participating in school events, attending parent-book studies, and encouraging one another spiritually. Listed below are opportunities for families to connect by serving and having fun.
Service Connections
Book Fair
Our annual Classical book fair is put on in conjunction with Grandparent's Day. If you have the gift of organization and love of books, this would be a great event for you to offer your assistance.
Connect By Serving
The Providence Development committee sets up booths several times a year in our community with the purpose of spreading the word about our school and distributing marketing materials all while supporting other worthy organizations. Join us for a few hours one Saturday a semester alongside other Providence families. This is just another great way to get connected!
Fundraising
Since the school’s inception, the Board of Directors decided that 100% of the school’s annual operating expenses be borne by those receiving the value: therefore, tuition and fees fully covers these expenses. Therefore, fundraising is of upmost importance for providing supplemental resources and creating a savings for the very near future as we make plans for our future campus.
Types of volunteers needed don't just include those confident in fundraising but those with the ability to coordinate, create, and communicate.. Please consider helping with one of the following fundraisers:
- North Texas Giving Day
- Skate-A-Thon
Field Trip Volunteers
Great memories are made on field trip days! We encourage each grade to take class field trips to destinations relating to the grade level's science, history, or language arts studies. Your classroom teacher will be in contact with your class about opportunities to plan grade level field trips.
Room Parent Helpers
Room Parent Helpers are an important link between the teacher and the other parents. They are the point of organization for the activities specific to each class, and an encouragement to our staff and our co-teachers. There is one Room Parent Helper for each section throughout the lower school. Some duties include:
- Coordinate class Thanksgiving Feast & Christmas Party
- Assist History teachers with History Day
- Encourage the classroom teacher
Coordinators
We will need several coordinators during the school year for the following activities:
- Pizza Coordinator
- Chick-Fil-A Coordinator
- Staff Birthday Coordinator
Service Day
We'd love to have an individual or team plan our annual school-wide service project that is slated to take place annually on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Hospitality
If you have the gift of hospitality, we would love your help during the following school led events:
- Staff development breakfasts/lunches throughout the year
- PPT (Parent Partnership Training) coffee and light breakfast
- Grandparent's Day
- Preview Meetings for prospective families
- State of the School reception
- Teacher Appreciation Lunch
- Donuts with Dad
Social Connections
Field Day
This fun day brings excitement in the way of traditional field day shenanigans, competitions, shaved ice, and water slides. Not only do we need an individual or team of parents to plan field day, but we'll need all hands on deck for this fun last day of school event.
Rockwall Christmas Parade
We need artists, builders, visionaries, costume designers, students and family participants for parade day, and anyone willing to lend a helping hand to contribute to creating a Christmas float for the annual Rockwall Christmas parade. What a fun way to connect with the PA community!
Events Encouraging Parent/Child Relationships
Clearly, the academy’s educational objectives are best served when they promote healthy home environments and close, loving parent-child relationships. We encourage the following events during the year which helps to foster these relationships :
- Mother/Son Event
- Daddy Daughter Dance
Please contact Sandi Davis if you'd like to help plan and volunteer one of the events!
Fall Festival
Fall Fest is a family-friendly evening full of food, games, inflatables, and more for the entire Providence community! From prepping ticket bags to sorting prizes to setting up the booths on event day, there's a way for just about everyone to be involved with this sweet event.
High School Social Events
Contact Dakota Nguyen (dnguyen@providencelions.org) if you'd like to help plan or chaperone an event for our high schoolers.
