A paradigm shift occurred in my faith journey in 2007 in response to the words of Jesus to the first-century Pharisee who tested Him by asking, “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” (Matt 22:36). Jesus responded with a quote from Deuteronomy 6:5, “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind” (Matt 22:37). After years of both studying and teaching the Bible, I was compelled by the Spirit of God to love God with all of my mind, which initiated my study of the Bible in higher education. My prayer is that our students move away from secular emotionalism to complete heart, soul, and mind devotion to God on the basis of sound logic and Christian theological truth. Right-thinking about God results in Spirit-led life transformation that endures. My passion is to lead students into the truth of God that results in a lifetime of vibrant, fruitful relationship with God.

I am originally from Lubbock, TX. I came to know the Lord at a very young age and had the privilege of growing up on the mission field. I lived ten years in Costa Rica and Mexico City. I attended Texas Tech University and graduated with a B.A. in Spanish. My family and I relocated to Rockwall from Lubbock, TX. I have been married for 17 years and have four amazing kids. Teaching children is my passion! I have been teaching at Providence Academy since 2013. One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Isaiah 41:10. It says, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” This verse has always been a comfort to me knowing that whatever I do or wherever I am, God is right there beside me sustaining and encouraging me!!

I was born in South Africa into a Christian home. From my earliest memories, I always wanted to be a teacher and a mom, and God answered both those desires! We moved to America (Massachussetts) when I was 13. After graduating from a Christian high school, I attended Liberty University, where I met my husband and received a degree in elementary education. After spending a few years in Illinois for seminary, we settled back in New England, where I spent 18 years raising and homeschooling our 6 boys. I was also blessed to be able to teach art and science in a homeschool tutorial. We moved to Texas 2 years ago, with 2 boys still at home and 4 boys in the army. Last year God graciously led us to Providence Academy, which was an answer to many prayers, and we have been so blessed to be here!

Growing up, I was always involved in art related activities, reading, and dance. I graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Elementary Education and a specialization in Reading Instruction. After college I spent almost 10 yrs. working with college students through Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU) at The University of North Texas, Texas Woman’s University, and Southern Methodist University. Although Texas has always been my home, I’ve traveled all over the world leading mission trips with CRU … My husband, Jeff, and I have been married 19 yrs. and have 2 high-school aged daughters, and a dog named Buddy. I’ve been homeschooling my children since kindergarten and have been involved in educating children for over 30 years in public, private, church, and homeschool settings. We attend Cornerstone Community Church in Rockwall. My favorite things to do are hanging out with my family, drawing and painting, reading, and watching British mystery shows.

I am a Dallas native with family ties to Rockwall. My family and I are now pleased to call Rockwall home and are so excited to be part of Providence Academy. I was among the first generation of classically educated students when the classical movement first saw its resurgence. I have since taught at the grammar level in multiple Dallas-area classical schools, homeschooled my own children, and been instrumental in founding a Charlotte Mason-based homeschool co-op. I have a B.A. in Music from Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, GA and finished my degree vowing that I would never teach. In the mysterious way the Lord works, He gently led me to what has become my passion and calling. I have spent the last several years earning a Master’s degree in Classical Education at the University of Dallas. While there, I worked with Angel Parham and the Nyansa Classical Community to integrate the black intellectual tradition into the classical canon. As part of that project, I helped formalize and develop multi-ethnic virtue-based classical curriculum. My family and I have also recently started the LLF Library, which offers the very best living children’s literature to the Dallas-area community. I have three children,

I have either been teaching someone (or something!) or had my nose in a book for as long as I can remember. That path led me to graduate from Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in English and history education with a teacher certification in 4th-12th grade English and social studies. After college, I taught in public schools for seven years. The Lord then blessed my husband and I with two sweet girls, and I decided to homeschool and teach humanities at a co-op in Houston… I desire for all my students to seek truth, goodness, and beauty in all that they do. And most of all read, read, and read some more! The power of great books to develop faith, character, and intellect is unequivocal. I am truly passionate about students growing in their ability to think critically and communicate effectively. (“A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.” Proverbs 25:11) My hope is for all students to find their inner communicator and logically, beautifully, and meaningfully convey their ideas. I currently enjoy this season of being a mom. It is a blessing to grow in my walk with the Lord while

I grew up in a loving Christian home in Louisiana then Florida. I attended Abilene Christian University, where I discovered my love of history. I had the privilege of working at a small local museum and took part in coursework in England which shaped my love of traveling and things of the past. ACU is also where I met my best friend and husband, Brad. We made a home in Rockwall and I continued to pursue my education at the University of Texas at Arlington and the University of North Texas while also working in a number of museums and libraries. The Lord opened the door to teaching at Dallas County Community College and Amberton University, where I served as adjunct faculty and taught U.S. History for over ten years… In this new season starting in 2022, I was thrilled to join my two daughters at Providence to teach history for middle school and now offer dual credit history for high school. The study of history is a fantastic opportunity to encourage wonder, reverence, and awe at the handiwork of God and His activity in the world. As students journey through the highs and lows of the human story, we

I was blessed to grow up in the beautiful landscapes of Northern New Mexico, and later made Albuquerque my home. My journey with Christ began during my college years, a transformative time when I accepted Him as my Savior and committed my life to His service. I earned my B.A. in Liberal Arts from the University of New Mexico, and my passion for learning has since grown into a calling to teach. My teaching experience includes time at Oak Grove Classical Academy in Albuquerque, where I had the privilege of shaping young minds and hearts. I believe that education is not just about imparting knowledge, but about inspiring students to discover their God-given potential and purpose. One of my guiding scriptures is Colossians 3:16: "Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts." This verse resonates deeply with me because I have been blessed by the mentorship of wise and faithful women who have encouraged me to live out my Christian faith boldly and authentically. Their example inspires me daily to be a vessel

As a young person, I had aspirations of serving my country. Soon after high school graduation I joined the U.S. Navy. I was stationed aboard an aircraft carrier and went to places and had experiences I never imagined. Yet, the glories of military life were soon overshadowed by a momentous event: an encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ. For the first time in my life, my eyes were opened to the One who died for me. I started reading the Scriptures and telling people about God’s love for them. After I was honorably discharged from the military, I attended the University of California. I also studied abroad in Spain, which allowed me to visit Africa and several countries throughout western Europe. After graduating with a double major in Communication and Religious Studies, I moved to Texas to attend Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS). It was at DTS where I met my beautiful wife, Rayna. Her name in Spanish means queen (“reina”) and that is exactly what she is to me. After earning a Master of Theology, I served as a full-time traveling instructor for middle and high-school students. I traveled throughout Texas and taught subjects on bullying prevention, the dangers of
