According to the 2017 article titled, “Worldview Is Formed by Age 13: Who’s Shaping Your Kids?”, author Jen Oshman states, “Morals are set by age 9; most salvation experiences happen by age 13; most worldview are established by age 13.” Therefore, Providence Academy leadership has as its standard for discipling children the Deuteronomy 6 passage. As a result, the purpose of the Family Ministry program is to keep parents confident, competent, encouraged, and involved with their children. We desire to equip parents with tools and resources that will strengthen families, keep parents informed of changing trends in the culture, and support and encourage healthy family environments. Our parent training and resource team has gathered and vetted many parent education materials including apps, books, websites, etc. and offers book studies. Listed below are resources and opportunities our parent training and resource team will make available this school year, which are intended to strengthen the parental role. Spiritual Encouragement
A necessary element in the Family Ministry Program is the Parent Encouragement Process. Clearly, the academy’s educational objectives are best served when they promote healthy home environments and close, loving parent-child relationships. As today’s parents are often in need of affirmation and confidence in their roles, priority time with their children, and practical tools for their all-important tasks, this program’s goal is year-to-year continuous improvement in the parent-encouragement enterprise. We offer the following opportunities to encourage parents spiritually:
- Free to Parent Book Study
- Prayer Shield Group
- Prayer & Care Team
- Two Day Women’s Event
- Encouraging speakers
